Eng. Michael Melek ABD-EL-SAYED has won the best PhD Forum Paper Award of the IEEE International Conference on Microelectronics (ICM) held in Cairo in December 2016 for his work titled:
"Application of Compressed Sensing to Wide-band Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio Networks".
under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohamed F. ABU-EL-YAZEED and Dr. Ahmed KHATTAB. In this work, the the Adaptive Reduced-set Matching Pursuit (ARMP) and Fast Matching Pursuit (FMP) - which are fast and accurate greedy recovery algorithms for compressed sensing - are introduced and applied to wideband spectrum sensing for cognitive radio networks. Results show a significant complexity reduction at a remarkable accuracy compared to the optimal solution. Eng. Michael is an Assistant Lecturer at the EECE Department of Cairo University and is currently working towards his Ph.D. Degree.
